They have packed out gigs up and down the UK and across the pond in the US and Canada, sold out Shepherd’s Bush Empire, rallied festival crowds from Reading to Bangkok, and remained a firm fave on BBC Radio 1 (UK) roundups (with specialist support from Huw Stephens and Jack Saunders, to the daytime spins of Scott Mills and Greg James)

Despite their young age, brothers Morgan and Lunn (the latter of whom took his mother's maiden name as his rock & roll moniker) were longtime music fans, having raided their parents' record collection as kids. Growing up on AC/DC, the Carpenters, T. Rex, the Beatles, and the Ramones helped instill a love for noise and melody in the siblings, while an Oasis performance on Top of the Pops convinced Lunn to begin mastering his father's old acoustic guitar.

In 2024, tracks London and Loose Tongue significantly boosted the band's presence in the live music scene. Both songs were produced by James Skelly, frontman of The Coral, at Liverpool's Kempston Street Studios. These tracks caught the attention of BBC Radio 6 Music's Chris Hawkins, who featured them as his Track of the Dawn selections on his morning show. Beyond the studio, The Guest List has built an impressive presence on social media, amassing over 400,000 followers and nearly 8 million likes on TikTok. Their engaging online presence has helped them connect with fans worldwide, while their Spotify audience continues to grow, with tens of thousands of monthly listeners. Lola Kirke stands out like a flash of neon magenta in this nostalgic landscape of Americana tin-types. Just a few lines into “Better than Any Drug,“ it’s clear no written role could reveal more of Kirke’s wit, lust for life, and sense of humor than this record captures with the help of producer Austin Jenkins (White Denim, Leon Bridges).

Friday Doors: 19:30

When Are You Leaving?, singer/songwriter/producer Baek Hwong’s second LP as NoSo, finds Hwong trading fantasy for reality. Previously, Hwong (they/he) sang about longing for “straight hips” and “simple limbs” in advance of their transition. Their debut Stay Proud of Me was an album-length daydream about what it would be like to fully embrace their trans masc identity, written mostly under quarantine restrictions. They released that record in 2022 to critical acclaim, with praise from NPR’s All Songs Considered, Paste, The Guardian, Notion, a performance at Tiny Desk and much more. But it’s one thing to wistfully yearn for transition, and another to actually do it. So what happens after? What happens when you get what you've always wanted, and it comes with a new set of problems? Even if you do everything in your power to feel more comfortable in your skin, it’s hard to tell who sees you and who doesn’t.
When Are You Leaving? Tenderly but directly explores the internal effects of those relationships with a witty, mature lens. The aching from their past work has itself moved into something more thoughtful and measured, showing amore fully-formed, complex Hwong in the process. Originating from Chicago before studying guitar and songwriting at the Thornton School of Music, and now based in Los Angeles, NoSo’s music deals with the alienation that comes at the intersection of his different identities. The stage name of NoSo itself comes from a question he’d get growing up in a largely white neighbourhood (“North or South Korean?”)While he became known in LA for his talent with guitar, he ultimately decided to pursue writing his own deeply personal music. This is as personal as anything else he’s made. He clarifies about the album: “While it’s intense in terms of lyrical content at times, it’s still triumphant, but in a more grounded and realistic way.” The joy doesn’t come from daydreaming, but from tangible, smaller victories like leaving toxic relationships and painful situations. That title, When Are You Leaving? comes from the mental fortitude required to deal with or exit those dynamics altogether. The music gives those small successes the scale they deserve. The albumg listens with spacious arrangements accompanied by the occasional saxophone and strings.

Young, authentic, and fearless in her expression, Eileen Alister is quickly establishing herself as one of the most promising names in the emerging music scene. The 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Zurich, Switzerland, has been steadily building a loyal following with her honest lyrics and captivating sound.
Eileen first drew attention through collaborations like the house track "Voices" (now surpassing 3 million streams) and "I Want..." with Benjamin Amaru. However, it was the release of her single "Lifetime Lover" in January 2024 that defined her artistic direction and marked a major breakthrough.
“She’s been singing since she could talk,” say those close to Alister. At just 13, she began posting covers online, and her passion for songwriting started even earlier—she wrote her first original song at age eight. A cover of Billie Eilish eventually caught the eye of Ddp, label owner of Physical Shock, who signed her shortly after. In 2023, she began working with producer ZID, and has since been releasing music independently, without label backing.
