Originally opened in 1929, the Edinburgh Playhouse has had a colourful history. The venue was saved from demolition in the early 1970’s thanks in part to the Edinburgh Society which petitioned to save the landmark. In 1993 a major refurbishment was undertaken, and The Edinburgh Playhouse was returned to its former glory, soon becoming one of the most successful theatres in Britain.
