Their breath-taking live shows have garnered an unshakeable reputation as one of the most must-see bands in the world. Their most recent studio album, ‘Hail To The King’, was the band’s first to hit the #1 spot in the UK and their second to top the Billboard charts in the US. Download history is sure to be made when they take their rightful place as UK festival headliner for the first time on the hallowed turf of Donington Park.
Joining Avenged Sevenfold on the first day of Download 2014 will be none other than the overlord of all things horror metal, Rob Zombie. After an utterly incredible performance headlining the 2nd stage back in 2011, he will be making a welcome return, this time to the main stage, to blow fans away with what is bound to be another undeniably spectacular performance.
Saturday night at this year’s festival will be headlined by the Grammy Award winning Linkin Park, who will be playing their multi-platinum debut album ‘HYBRID THEORY’ in its entirety as part of their set.
Released in 2000, Linkin Park’s debut album ‘Hybrid Theory’ truly changed the landscape of rock music. ‘Hybrid Theory’ is one of the highest selling albums of the 2000-2010 decade, selling 27 million copies worldwide. It spawned some the biggest anthems of the 21st century including ‘One Step Closer’, ‘Crawling’, ‘Papercut’ and ‘In the End’. Combine these with the plethora of mammoth hits that have followed Linkin Park throughout their career such as ‘Somewhere I Belong’, ‘Numb’, ‘What I’ve Done’ and more recently, the likes of ‘The Catalyst’ and ‘Waiting For The End’ and you’ve got the makings of Download legend.
Hot on the heels of their stunning return from hiatus earlier this year, with their chart topping album ‘Save Rock and Roll’, Chicago’s finest, Fall Out Boy will be bringing their exquisitely crafted, mega-singalong catalogue of hits to the main stage at Donington Park for the first time ever. They'll play main support on Saturday.
The legendary Aerosmith will be closing the festival in 2014, when they headline on Sunday 15th June. Joining them on the main stage as main support will be hard rockers, Alter Bridge.
Aerosmith are one rock’s most infamous and revered bands. Despite having been a band for over 40 years, their incredible, ever expanding collection of hits continues to appeal to hoards of fans both old and new. Their headline performance at Download 2014 will be their first on UK soil since 2010.
Joining Aerosmith in ending what is already set to be an incredible weekend, will be the heavy riffing, arena conquering Alter Bridge. The band released their 4th studio album, ‘Fortress’ earlier this year to huge critical acclaim. It’s been the band’s highest charting album in the UK, hitting the #1 spot on the rock charts and saw them sell out arenas across the country on their recent UK tour.
