Paul Dempsey is the singer, guitarist and principal songwriter of Australian band, Something for Kate. Dempsey has also always played solo shows and toured solo when not busy with Something for Kate as well as producing records for other artists.

In late 2007 Paul began writing his first solo album. It was recorded for the most part in December of 2008 in a secluded studio in New South Wales with engineer, Wayne Connolly (You Am I, Youth Group) and then mixed at the start of 2009 in Los Angeles with Doug Boehm (Elliot Smith, French Kicks).

Paul then completed a sold out national solo tour of Australia during which he got himself acquainted with playing the new album tracks live. The album, titled Everything Is True was released on August 14th through EMI Music Australia. The critical response to the album has been overwhelming, garnering 4 and 4 1/2 star reviews from publications ranging from Rolling Stone to The Australian. Everything is True debuted at No.5 on the ARIA chart after spending over a week in the No.1 position on the iTunes chart. The album has so far spent 8 weeks in the ARIA chart.
